A Apple2000 macrumors member Original poster Jul 19, 2011 76 0 Feb 26, 2012 #1 Is the same i5-2400 chip used in each 27" iMac? Or does apple get an OEM chip of sorts that runs at a lower speed. It seems kind of counterproductive to purposely bottleneck a computer.

MrCheeto Suspended Nov 2, 2008 3,531 353 Feb 26, 2012 #4 I believe there is some kind of confusion. 2400 = 3.1ghz with a turbo mode up to 3.4ghz 2500S = 2.7ghz with a turbo mode up to 3.7ghz There are a handful of over-clocking utilities for Macs.
