2.9ghz vs 3.1ghz rMBP noise difference?

Hi all,

Anyone have experience with both the 2.9 and 3.1ghz 15” rMBP? Specifically, I’m wondering if the fans on the 3.1 would kick in more often and longer, etc making it noisier than the 2.9. I really need the most powerful cpu I can get but not if the end result is a hair dryer lol

It seems no one has any thoughts regarding noise difference between these two models. How about performance? I’ve read some posts which indicate that, due to throttling, the 3.1 actually has lower performance than the 2.9. Is this true? Honestly I mainly play WoW and it is quite CPU dependent so I want to make the right purchase decision.
