Hi all,

I have an odd issue here. Bought a 2018 mbp 8 years ago second hand and reinstalled the OS and have been using it for 8 years no issues. I wanted to reset and give to kid for playing around but when I went to erase all and install OS it prompted to turn on as security setting in recovery mode. I did this and was able to remove FindMy and immediately after it prompted another users findmy password prompt. I verified there are no other user accounts on this device including keychain. I’ve never had this other iCloud account show up in 8 years through any OS update or anything. I emailed the persons gmail account to ask for them to remove it from their findmy list of devices but no response in a few days. What do I need to do here? Am I better off pulling the ssd and e-wasting the device at this point? It’s still a somewhat functional laptop for a kid to play Minecraft on and iMessage or FaceTime with.

I found this older post with similar issue: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/activation-lock-bug.2393668/

I am watching this thread. When I reinstall an IOS device I get prompts to enter an unknown email account I have no idea why. Its been like this for years though.
