Is anyone else experiencing the need to hit a URL twice to make it load?
I enter a url and it starts to load, stalls for anywhere from 10 seconds fro upwards of 90 seconds and then loads.
If it stalls with the first ENTER and I highlight the URL by clicking in the address box and hitting ENTER again, the page loads instantly.

Very annoying and its not intermittent anymore....its most of the time.
Loading on the first try is the exception.

Nope. Check your DNS and certificates.

If you go to a site over https, click on the certificate and see if it's owned by some third party or the official site you're on. Maybe your traffic is being redirected, proxied, stolen.. reviewed, manipulated, etc through naughty RC.

Your ISP might just suck on their DNS as well, because they love selling ad injectors to big money ppl. Perhaps consider Google public dns, or opendns.com as your prim/sec dns servers.

Make sure your OS and browser app is up to date as well?
You using anything like content blockers, ghostery, ad blocker, flash blocker, or whatever?

Are you on a proxy or vpn?

Floris covers all the important points to check. Some additional suggestions:

  • Try changing DNS to either Google's or OpenDNS
  • Check for and ISP proxy (http://www.lagado.com/proxy-test)
  • Download a different browser than you normal use (Chrome Canari, Firefox, etc.), don't install any extensions or make any changes to stock settings, and test what that to rule-out extension or plugin issues
  • Use Developer mode in the browser to watch the network load resources and watch for any console errors.
