Hi,

I recently bought a MacBook Pro, and I installed Windows 8.1 with bootcamp on it. However, the battery life is absolutely horrible. I get about 2 hours of battery life doing light tasks that would get me 8-9 hours of battery life on OS X. Task manager shows minimal CPU usage, like <5% most of the time. The laptop also runs extremely hot. I know Windows does not run well on Macs, but this is unusable. Is this normal? What can I do to get better battery life on Windows?

Thanks

I also run Windows 8 on my mac using Parallels and I get 2-2 and a half hours doing intensive stuff like playing games and such.I think you have a problem since you are getting far worse battery life doing light tasks.

If your system has an NVIDIA GPU, that sort of battery time is not unusual. Macs do not support graphic switching when running Windows as they do in OS X.
