I just received two separate emails (one for myself; one for a family member) in regards to both of our iPhone trade-in boxes being empty upon arrival to Apple!

Items (both 14PM) were shipped via UPS, dropped off on the same day at the UPS store. I have a package receipt, but upon closer inspection I now see where the weight is listed as “NA” for both. After calling the store, I was assured that this is normal for prepaid labels, but I made it clear to them that I don’t think so.

The other odd fact about this drop off is that it was not scanned in until it was thousands of miles away in California. The first scan was on the same day it was actually delivered to Apple.

Apple sent an email asking for description of item and packaging. I responded.

What’s next? What can I do to ensure I get trade in credit? Has this happened to anyone else this year? Appears to be happening more and more frequently…Never again for me, this could be quite an expensive learning lesson!

It took exactly 15 minutes for Apple to follow up with a conclusion to the investigation and issue a credit. What a relief! Not sure if my family member received their email yet or not, but in any case this is a mistake to not be repeated: Always trade in via Apple Store if at all able to!!

if you have a receipt, that should show up as a “Drop-Off“ scan at the UPS Store. Was this first scan in California?

I agree, it absolutely should. But no, there is NO drop off scan. It was not scanned in until it traveled 1000+ miles. First an “on way” in West Sacramento, and then a few hours later “out for delivery”, and finally “delivered”.

Between the lack of weight on the receipt, and no scans the whole way - it’s quite concerning.

Yikes...Today I sent my wife's 12PM in for trade-in value. I did get a ticket showing the weight and acceptance by UPS (a drop-off scan).

We are certainly living in a more lawless world, and it's getting worst and worst it seams like every day. Thankfully Apple took care of you!

Did you have to file a police report?

Clearly people do not use the search function on this site because if they did they would have noticed that in the past couple of weeks numerous threads of the exact same problem have been made.
