We have 2 lines on the family plan and both are upgrade eligible. Only one line is being used by mother on her iPhone 3GS, the second is just to get the free minutes. It worked out cheaper this way.
I'm stationed abroad and the plan was to upgrade her 3GS line to a 4G, I retire my 2G and take the 4G with me. Looks like she wants a 4G as well.
Is there a way to upgrade the second line to a 4G but take off the data/iPhone plan after a month? I'll offload the 3GS on ebay to pay for the upgrades and the second line can go back to being dormant since I only use when I'm home for the summer ...
