I'm looking for a way to network my 2 macs via firewire for fast transfer (syncOtunes with multiple gigs to transfer). I did it in the past, but can't remember how. This is NOT target disk mode. Does anyone have suggestions?

What about Gigabit Ethernet if you have it? Then you just turn on file sharing in the Sharing part of System Preferences, and the HD is shown in the Network part of Finder on the other machine :)

If you want to connect both computers through firewire, you will have to set up TCP/IP on both of them. The rest will be the same as using a normal network connection.

system prefs - network - built in firewire
