2 Mac Studios + 1 MacBook Pro or 1 16”MacBook pro

Short run down. Built 2 hackintoshs.
1 with an i9-9900k and 560x. The other an i9-12900k with a 5600xt. I was also using a 15 inch 2018 MacBook Pro. The 9900k is my home machine while 12900k is at my office. Obviously, I’d rather not have a hackintosh for a work computer.
Recently bought a 14” MacBook Pro. Love it! But now, I’m trying to decide how I want to use everything. I could buy 2 Mac studios to replace the hackintoshes. Or just return the MacBook Pro and go with a 16” beefed up one dock it at both and home and it’s my primary machine…

So first question: How does the 14 inch compare to the hackintoshes for what you do? Really meaning: would it make enough of a difference to justify the investment in a faster laptop and/or additional stationary computers? How do you use your machines?

Two machines are better than one. I would keep the 14" and get the Studio for work and possibly for home too. If you have screens and keyboards in both locations, the Studio itself is very portable and could easily be moved between locations.

I have screens at both locations already! But ohhhh! Didn’t think about that!

Personally a 16 beefed up with say the new Brydge docks (with screen keyboard and mouse hooked up to the dock) would be my preference. I hate having more than one machine if I can avoid it, suppose it really depends on your work flow though.

I like to have at least two machines. Its important to have a backup if one of my computers needs to be repaired.

Yea I get that. Suppose I actually have a second machine in my windows desktop but I have that setup in the basement and just stream stuff when I need to play a game unsupported or something. My main setup will be the m2 air with the brydge dock and LG ultra fine 4k.

I want my second machine to be a Mac too but if I was only going to have one Mac, it wouldn't be an M2 MBA.

Yea I didn't recommend that. That is what I use as I prefer no fans and light weight in a portable. My personal preference.
