I have the latest MBP, and am about to be given another by company I work for. I want to know whether it will be possible to use one as an additional screen for the other via the mini dv cable?

The video ports on MacBook Pros are output only (like pretty much every computer available apart from the 27" iMac). There are ways of doing it that run over the network but clearly there is potential for latency/lag there.

Thanks for the reply. I would like to try it out, could you explain the process of arranging this over the network or point me in the direction of a tutorial?

You need third party software. Synergy is a free option.

Edit: Synergy is not the correct software. I'm trying to remember the correct one...

Edit again: ScreenRecycler would work but I'm sure there was a free option

That's a great idea, which i hadn't thought about. Thanks for bringing up this idea.
