I have 2 kids going to college in the fall – we bought them each a 13” MBP i5. My daughters started not waking from sleep a few days after online FedEx delivered. Went to the apple store, they exchanged. My sons started not waking from sleep 7 days after delivery. Apple store exchanged this one as well. The serial numbers were only about 14 numbers apart.

The pad and keyboard wouldn’t wake the screen from sleep, the keyboard would light up, once my daughters started playing one of the itunes files, still no screen. I hoped the brightness was just down, but no. If you closed the lid and opened, you got a distorted screen with lines all over it. Exact same behavior on both MBP. Not always, but the frequency of the not wake from sleep increased.

Only software installed – all software updates, itunes, iwork, office

Both use new Seagate 1.0TB firewire drives, hope they aren’t the cause.

Hope it was just a couple bad MBP.

Is there some common software installed to both laptops that may have caused this???
If this is not the case, it can only be a hardware specific problem . I hope that the replacement MB's work ok.
