Firstly I have been posting messages over the last few months thank you for your answers without you guys and girls I would be planning my new Wintel PC purchase.

I have two questions.

Firstly I will need to buy a bag for my laptop when I buy it, I will need a compartmemt for my laptop, one for my books or folders and other pockets for food, my ipod and my pens etc. what would you recommend.

Secondly apparently Panther OS is faster than Jaguar OS would this mean that ibooks will run faster.

:) Thanks everbody only about a month before I place my order.

By the way my ipod is running very well, and hopefully it will stay that way.

There's currently another thread about bags, and there's plenty more that have gone on. My bag is by TimBuk2. They have changed it to a new design, the Transit Commute bag. If it's anything like their old laptop bag, you'll be very happy with it. The Apple stores carry them if you want to take a look.

You can order them online here:

People are reporting that Panther is running very nicely on older systems, but keep in mind it's only in development.

Generally speaking, OS updates run faster, since Apple tries to keep overhead to a minimum and every revision optimizes the code a bit... So the great probability is that Panther will *feel* faster on your computer. It cannot make the computer physically faster, of course, that's limited to hardware...

I have Panther (7B21) on my iBook 800 and can confirm that it feels much faster than Jaguar (or the WWDC release of Panther). Apps seem to open much quicker and the general UI is very responsive.

I'm using a Tom Bihn ID bag with the Brain Cell add-on for my TiBook. Plenty of room for all my goodies, and the laptop storage (the Brain Cell) is removable so if you only need your computer, or you need to fill your bag with stuff and can't fit the computer, it can be carried seperately and still very heavily protected. I've heard lots of good things about Timbuk2 bags as well, same with the Brenthaven bags sold on the Apple site. Look around and see what you like.
