Are you asking if it's a good deal or just posting for others?
If the former, then I'd give the seller $20 for that. If both are bad then at least you'd make your money back in parts.
Working inside the 17s is easy enough. Shame the seller ripped the connector off the logicboard. If that particular Mac can be jumpered to start it'll work with a keyboard and mouse.
As to the lines on the screen on the other Mac, that's usually (but not always) the LCVD cable. That can be replaced but it's usually better just to swap screens. Swapping screens is easy too.
