I have an used iMac that was wiped before I took it home (its an old one from my office). iMac 2.1 GHz PowerPC G5 Mac OS X (10.4.11)
I have 3 users on the computer. Sysadmin, which came with the computer. One for me and one for my boyfriend.
1st problem:
If the computer sits idle for about 15 min, the log in screen appears with "currently logged in" underneath the users name. However, this will also happen if iTunes is playing or if your listening to something on the internet (youtube).
I've checked System preferences, Securities and the option of "Log out after _ min of activity" is NOT checked under any user. However, I do have energy preferences set to automatically sleep when the computer is inactive for an hour.
I've checked the console and this is what showed after an automatic log-out has occurred:
Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 (Build 8S165)

2nd problem:
the iMac doesn't always sleep, even though I have energy settings saved. When it the computer finally goes to sleep and then you "wake" it, a grey or blue screen appears. That's it. No log-in screen, no desktop. I have to shut it down completely.
I would appreciate it if anyone has any ideas what to do. I've talked to the tech at my office and they are at a loss.
