Looking at which Mac to buy next for video editing. I'd like to get a MBP of some sort for editing/streaming. 2 things that i'm worried about are...

1. Never used SSDs for anything before. I think it would be nice, but i'm worried about recording alot to it and wearing it out within a year or two. Right now i'm using a USB2/3 external to edit with (over 2.0) but i've never tried recording directly to it over USB. I've heard the packet delivery system USB uses isn't trustworthy, at least for 2.0, anyone know if 3.0 speeds rid it of that problem? I've seen one person say it's doable so far, but just 1:/ (I only record in Apple ProRes 422 if it makes a difference, no uncompressed)

2. If MBPr can't record thru the headphone jack anymore, can anyone recommend a way to record for a stream thru the USB port? I'll prolly need something with 2 jacks, one for my voice and another for the game audio and my friends voices over Xbox.

Any advice on Macbooks though? Get a cMBP with 7200rpm drive and 1050p display? Snag a MBPr? Maaaaybe hold out for a new iMac? (although I prefer Macbook Pro, maybe hook up my external 1080p display I use for gaming?)
