2 separate keyboard commands?

Hi,
I have an MBP and Apple external keyboard. I work with Pro Tools and a laptop keyboard isn't that great to work on for lots of shortcuts. My question is: Could i have my laptop key commands be that same while an external keyboard plugged into my laptop have diff. key commands? This would be connected to an external display as well. Thanks,
