20" and 24" Imac memory switch possible?

Have a new 24", 2.8ghz that I replaced the two memory boards with 2mb each making 4mb.
I am now looking at a 20", 2.4 base model that only comes with 1mb ram.
Can I take the two extra ones (original apple) I have and load them into the new one, giving me 2mb? Thanks.

if your 2.8 iMac is an 'early 2008' model, then you can swap the so-dimms
