Am trying to connect a macbook pro 13" laptop (latest edition) to a 20" cinema display (from around 2007/2008 - not the very newest model). The display is connected to the computer using a DVI to mini display port adapter and USB cable. The computer will not recognise the display automatically and when I go to the display section in system preferences and click on "detect displays" nothing happens. Have tried rebooting and every possible combination and sequence of plugging in and connecting the two pieces of equipment, but nothing. The computer will not recognise the display and the display remains blank (although the power light pulses white when the USB lead is plugged in). Any suggestions?

Is that Cinema Display recognised by other computers via DVI?

The adapter you use (Dual Link I suppose) might be overkill, as the normal adapter is sufficient enough.
Anyway, does that adapter work with other monitors?
