20" iMac (2008) as a second monitor for another 20" iMac

I've searched for an answer, but things get a little tangled between external monitors and the new iMacs which have more display-sharing options.

I have two 20" iMacs - a mid-2007 model and an early-2008 model. Both are identical, save for the 2008 one having a 2.6Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo proc vs a 2.4Ghz proc in the 2007 model.

I want to use one of the machines as a second monitor for the other.

Is this possible? I have found the ScreenRecycler app which seems to offer this functionality, but I'm a little wary as it looks a little out of date (Lion version still in beta).

Any help would be appreciated!

Reading the reviews of that, it seems performance is an issue.

I tested ScreenRecycler and AirDisplay (bought it) and AD was the better one in all respects between a 2007 iMac and 2009 MBP, both running 10.6.8.
I used wried connection though, as wireless is quite frakking slow.

Both use similar technology. I use ScreenRecycler, and it works fine. But it's never gonna be as fast as a dedicated monitor. I have accustomed myself to putting the more static windows on the other monitor, and that works fine.
