So, as you've probably seen, rumors have it that AT&T will be dropping the price of the iPhone down to $199. Whether this is the current iPhone or the "new" 3G model doesn't really matter to me.

Supposing that the price is dropped to $199, what are the chances that the $150 free iPod rebate with the Education would be able to be used?

Close to, if not, zero. The price wouldn't be dropped, AT&T would offer a discount with a 2-year contract. I can only assume they'll add a clause that it can't be used with any other offers, such as an education rebate.

Zero. iPhone is not iPod. It won't apply.

Yeah that won't work at all. It's hard to believe they'd drop the price of the EDGE model immediately when the 3G comes out too.

Considering how quickly they move $249 refurb iPhones, I kinda don't see their tremendous need to go to $199 at this time. But who knows? And I really doubt you'll get the student fall iPod deal on the iPhone.

Dang, I was really hoping to see some sort of deal like that.
