2004 Word spelling and grammar

My word 2004, on my macbook pro, will not check for grammar or spelling. When I go to the preferences it won't let me click the spelling and grammar tab. How do i fix this?!

HD/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/com.microsoft.Word.prefs.plist

Take this path to the file at the end, then drag that file to your Desktop. Now go into Word and try the Spelling and Grammar tab. Any luck?
