C ColdCase macrumors 68040 Feb 10, 2008 3,365 277 NH Nov 11, 2016 #2 You need a fast hard drive to capture to, but otherwise should be OK, at least for VHS. I used to capture on my G3 Wallstreet. RAM doesn't matter for capture. Editing HD could be a challenge, however.

As HDV camcorders were around then, I'm thinking it should cope with that as well. Do you already have a Canopus? If not one of these will do just as well, and do it cheaper: https://www.elgato.com/en/video-capture
