I dug out my 2006 Mac Mini. It had quit working in 2013 and I took it apart and gave up on it when my dad died. So today I totally took it apart, cleaned it, and out said well by now the lithium battery has to be dead put a new one in. Hooked it up and it fired right up. I have it hooked up to a old 32 in Sharp Aquos 720 it works but none of the screen resolutions work quite right. They are either stretched out or misplaced by a inch or so. Not sure how to fix that. It’s still running 10.5.8. I am in the process of cleaning out old files and programs I don’t need or want. But it’s a mess. There is stuff in all kinds of files. Photos in places like documents and such. It has a 75gig drive. It was at 68. I have cleared 13 gigs. There’s 4800 photos on it!!!! Those I have to keep.

If you put 2GB RAM in and an SSD (preferably a SATA II - 3Gbps SSD) it'd make a decent 10.6 Snow Leopard machine.

Well after spending all night and this morning cleaning up files and photos I did a restart went and got the mail. Come in my wife says she heard a scratching noise then a tone. It was off. Try to start it and it was grinding pulled the plug fast. Took it apart and you can feel the drive catching and stopping. Drive is dead. I am devastated. There was pictures of my kids when they were younger and me and dad work on stuff. Now gone. Story of my life.

This may sound callous, but that's what "backups" are for.
Go forth from this day and learn, a sadder but wiser man.

I suggest an external USB3 drive and either CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper.
Both are free to download and try for 30 days.
