Hi All,

Can somebody please confirm the model number of the AirPort Extreme card required for a 2006 Mac Pro? I have bluetooth but could not bear a few extra weeks wait to get my Pro all those years ago and now would like the wireless option

Thanks

Sean :)

The version for the '08 and '09s works in the '06 just fine...better actually since it's 802.11n. You'll may need an extra antenna to get "n" but you can get them on eBay for cheap. If you don't care about "n" just install as-is and you'll get b/g fine.

Mine has the model number BCM94321MC written on the card.

The card that came with the '06 supports 802.11a/b/g/n on 2.4/5GHz, and up to 300mbps. Though yeah you can get an '08 or '09 one instead.

Though if you have done the aerial trick to improve the Bluetooth reception, you will only have two aerials for wifi available. As the '06 Mac Pro comes with 4 aerials, 3 for WiFi and one for Bluetooth. But don't usually need the third WiFi aerial.
