My MacBook is from 2006. It fell a couple feet to the ground and the screen is loose on the left side by the hinge, so it won't stay in the place I put it in anymore and usually falls all the way back or all the forward. I thought it was the hinge and got a new one from ifixit.com. When I went in to replace the hinge, I realized it's a separate piece, the bar that is attached to the hinge but goes through the bottom piece of the screen that holds it up and rotates to open and close. Anyone know what this piece is and if I can fix it myself?

agreed, pic would be helpful.

The hinge on a white macbook connects the lower left/right hand corner of the LCD display to the bottom case of the macbook in either the top left or top right corner.

are you saying the part that holds the screws of the display to the hinge are broken? If so you would need a display housing. Your description is not very clear so we would need further explanation before giving a recommendation
