My wife just scored a 2006 mb pro core duo for next to nothing so i really can't complain....but i was told it has just been sitting closed for years...the screen looks like it has a yellowish dingy tint around the edges (about 1-2 inches all the way around the screen)...I would assume its because it has just been sitting for so long without being opened...is there any kind of fix for this or do we just live with it as is....

I it possible that the screen is damaged, i have to say its not the standard HW problem.
I would try changing the brightness to full and leaving the screen on ALOT, usage might make the tint wear off. You can change the power settings to keep it on all the time.
Rerun monitor calibration.
Its definitely a tint, not dirt/deposit on the screen.
Just thoughts off the top of my head.
