I know people have done high-res upgrades on the 15" PB G4 and pre-unibody MBP. I've done a resolution upgrade (to XGA) on my own 300MHz clamshell iBook.
Is it possible to do something similar on a MacBook? At the very least, I'd like to put a matte LCD in the display, but if possible I'd also like to put a higher res LCD in there (at least 1440x900).
It should be fairly trivial to install a matte LCD of the same resolution, provided the LVDS connector on the LCD's board is the correct one. What about the resolution part? My iBook mod involves an OF hack, which won't work of course in an EFI-based Intel Mac.
