I have a 2007 MB that doesn't boot. Press the power button and get a brief screen flash and nothing. Drives don't spin and black screen. After a couple of minutes the fans start to spin up and the system is heating up so it's obvious something is powered up. I've gone through the SMC/PRAM reset and still nothing. Dead board?

When the RAM went bad on my MBP, the same thing happened. However, it could be a long list of things.
The easiest thing to do would be take it to a tech to spend their time on it. If you want to self diagnose then run the Apple Hardware Test (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509). The results will confirm bad RAM or any other problem.

Thanks for all of the tips. I'm pretty sure it's a dead motherboard.
