With just Fire Fox open. Any ideas? 25 GB of hard drive is clear out of 120.. pram reset.. cache cleared.. all the disk utility options have been performed on it..

Any ideas?

a few details:

I can still type, the mouse will freeze up and I have to restart the computer to get it to work.. already lost alot of work from it.. I have to do a cold stop by holding down the power button.. Im trying to back it up but so far its just frozen all 3 times ive tried..

Run Disk Utility and "Verify Disk" as a start. Then, run Hardware Test from the restore disc and see what it says. Could be a failing hard drive, you could have a logic board problem, etc.

Have you changed the RAM recently?

If you have the original restore discs, run the Apple Hardware Test.

My best guess, from the age of your machine and the capacity of your drive, is that your drive is just wearing out. Make sure you have a good backup and just replace it with a newer, bigger one.
