So I'm about to swap the hard drive in my 2007 MacBook pro, and when I looked up how to replace the drive, the guide said I needed a spudger to pry the glued ribbon from the original drive but I can't find one of these tools.

Are there any alternative items I can use instead? I imagine a flat screwdriver is a bad idea because they're metal and could scratch or damage the inside of the computer or cable.

The handle of a plastic knife or other plastic utensil should be fine if you really want to use a tool to do it, otherwise as already mentioned just carefully & slowly pull up on it as there's not much holding it down.

Corner of a plastic card, like a drivers license, credit, or library card should work fine.

I used my fingers back when I did my 2008 machine. Same internal layout.
