Hello all,

I just replaced the hard drive on my 2008 24-inch iMac (8,1) with an SSD.

Now after Shutdown or in Sleep mode, I can hear a fan (I think it's the CPU fan) still spinning along with a quiet clicking sound located just above the CPU fan. There is also warmth coming from that area. Again, this is AFTER the iMac is fully shut down or asleep. Hours after shutdown, this is still happening.

I am certain I correctly attached the hard drive thermal sensor to the SSD. And I was very careful not to disconnect any other wires.

I did a SMC reset and PRAM reset and the problem still remains. During normal ON operation, the fans are running smoothly and extremely quiet, all within normal parameters.

For all I know this problem existed before the SSD install, but I don't know. I have scanned this Forum and the Web for similar problems, but the folks who've experienced this never posted a solution or responded to my earlier post, so I started this new thread.

I am running OS 10.6.8. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Frank:confused:
