2008 Intel imac

I bought my imac january 2, 2008. I have the 24inch 2.8Ghz model with 2GB of RAM and 500GB HDD. Seeing how it's 2010, I wanted to up the RAM in it so I can get it running a bit faster. I understand that it supports up to 4GB of RAM but I was wondering if there was a way I could get it to support 8GB by means of 3rd party software or upgrading the BIOS or something if possible. Thanks for all the help!

P.S. I apologize if this was a previous thread, I couldn't find anything of this sort.

Apple officially supports 4 GB of RAM, but third-parties have been able to upgrade the system to 6 GB of RAM using one 2 GB and one 4 GB memory module.

I'd like to add, that Apple computers don't have a BIOS only those that are called PC. EFI is used for the booting process on Apple computers.

Yeah, OWC has tested that model and it will work with up to 6GB of RAM. They have good info on their site about how much memory various models can support. They even break it down by model identifier. Here is the link for the 2008 iMacs.
