2008 MAC PRO - move 2 drives in raid 1 to 2012 mac pro

can i move 2 drives in RAID 1 from 2008 to 2012 mac pro ? will the RAID configuration be lost? do i need to move them into identical bays ?

If they are new drives, it would be better to buy new drives and copy the data.

If they're original drives from 2008 - definitely get new drives.

I would also recommend, whatever you do, have a complete backup before you do anything. Unexpected things sometimes happen when moving RAID drives around.
