My partner has an early 2008 MacBook (black shell). A few months back, she spilt some wine on her computer. Needless to say, some damage was done. If she wants to use her mac, it needs to be plugged in to work. She doesn't have the money for a new mac, but I'm wondering if replacing the logic card and upgrading the ram will be a viable (and cheaper) option. Thoughts/advice?

My thought is you would be spending more to fix it than it is worth. For the money you would spend maybe you could find a nice used machine from say around 2009-2010 that would be faster anyway.

I'd be doing the repair myself. It's just a matter of getting the parts at a decent price

I assumed that.... but a new logic board is going to be around $350 (ifixit.com), plus the added RAM, with no guarantee this will work.

I just checked eBay and there are several 2009 Macbooks for sale for around $400.

Plus you could sell your broken Macbook on eBay to offset some of the cost.
