2008 Macbook Air - Upgraded 120gb HD Not Recognized

Hey guys my 2008 A1237 Macbook Air's HD died and I sprung for the 120gb on IfixIT. No matter what I have tried though on boot-up disk utility doesn't recognize the Hard Drive. I have tried plugging it in over and over and I get nothing. Any tips on what I am missing or could try?

what was the outgoing hdd and what is the incoming hdd? give model #'s & brand

Original HDD was a:
661-4493 Hard drive, 80GB, PATA, 4200 - Macbook Air 1.6-1.8GHz A1237

Replacement HDD was:

MacBook Air (Original) 120 GB Hard Drive
Samsung / 1.8" form factor / 5mm thick / 120 GB Unformatted / 4200 RPM

So if you boot from a DVD or Snow Leopard disk it doesn't show up in Disk Utility?

Nope I get nothing. The only thing that makes sense is that the hard drive was DOA.
