So i booted up my computer last night, and shortly after the screen was filled with green and black bars. i tried rebooting it but the bars are now always on the screen and I have no idea what it could be nor have I ever heard of this. please help!

Might be a graphics card issue.
Do you have an external display that you can plug the laptop in to see if the results are the same?
Time to take it to the Apple Store.
