Hey guys, it's my first post on here, so please be gentle.

I'm not entirely sure if I'm in the right place, but after searching around, my only remaining option was to ask.

Does my 2008 Macbook Pro support input from external DisplayPort sources?

I don't have a lot of money to spend on an HD capture card, so I was thinking of buying a 2x HDMI output for my Xbox 360, and an HDMI/Mini DisplayPort adapter for my mac, so I could record HD gameplay without spending hundreds of pounds.

Please help me out!

I suppose it might be worth adding that even the 27" iMac can't do what you want. When you use it's MDP in input mode the external source takes over the whole screen. It's not a capture card and cannot be used as such.

The only solution to what you want to do is a capture card of some sort.
