How much better is the performance, speed of the current Air 13" compared to my 2008 Macbook?

About my Mac:

2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB 1067 Mhz DDR3

Thanks.

Is a 2000 Bench increase worth it? I'm not exactly sure what it means.

The 2011 MacBook Air with an i7 at 1.7 GHz is 1.6 times faster than the 2008 MacBook with a C2D at 2.4 GHz.

The SSD and the two extra virtual cores and the three year difference are probably the cause of that increase. Depending on your computational habits and needs, you might or might not see an increase. The extra pixel (1280 x 800 vs. 1440 x 900) might also be of benefit.

You could also just upgrade to an SSD with your MacBook and see a very good performance increase.

MacBook, MacBook Pro: Replacing the Hard Disk Drive, transferring data to the new HDD

the guide includes:
  • 0. Identify your MacBook or MacBook Pro
  • 1. Getting a new HDD
  • 2. Guides to replace the internal HDD with a newer one
  • 3. Transferring data from the old HDD to the new HDD
  • 4. Using the optical disk drive (ODD) slot for placing an SSD or HDD inside the MB/P (OPTIBAY)

Not to mention that the 2011 mba comes with 4gb ram standard, whereas OP only has 2gb currently
