I have read countless posts on the newer macbook Pro's having to much thermal paste applied to the relevant areas and wonder if any folks had found this to be the case with the earlier 2008 silver keyed models?. I was thinking of replacing the paste anyway with it being 4 years old, does the paste become ineffective over time or if your macbook is running at moderate temps is this a waste of time?. My average temp under no loading is around 44c , I never use my macbook for anything other than playing high quality music via the SOnic Studios Amarra Program.

thanks in advance Wayne

If you're at 44 degrees while under a normal use stress load, I wouldn't mess with replacing the thermal paste. Once (if) you start getting around 75 degrees, then I'd say it's time to change it.
