Hi all,

I have a 2008 MBP 2.66GHz with 4GB ram and running OS X Lion. Currently, with the screen on the lowest level, no keyboard backlight and only Safari and F.lux running, I am only seeing a 2:40 battery life. I am running with performance mode off as well. Is this normal? I'm not trying to jump to conclusions, but it seems a bit low, even taking into consideration the data in the screenshot below.

Steps I have taken include resetting the PRAM / SMC and calibrating the battery. Any other suggestions, or is this a "you just have to deal with it" thing?

Thank you!

Edit: I am expecting an 8GB kit from OWC to come in tomorrow. Will this potentially help battery life at all? Just wondering.

Edit 2: Just a few moments ago, while I had approx 40 minutes battery life, my MBP shut off. When I tried to start it, it would come on for about 5 seconds, then shut off. When I pressed the battery gauge button, I had two of the green LEDs light up, however no cigar; the computer wouldn't come back on. I had to plug it in for it to come on. When it started up, my battery shows 25% charged with 1:25 minutes left. Obviously, this differs from the 40 minutes displayed before the shut down. In addition, my Spotlight started indexing for about 4 minutes, then stopped indexing. Does anyone have any idea as to why this may occur? Pretty confused at these turn of events. One last thing to note: When I unplug the charger, my battery time went down to 40 minutes again. I've never seen the time remaining jump up or down depending on whether or not the charger is plugged in.
