I have a old 2008 single xeon xserve from work that I would liketo make use of here at home.
Its running OS X Server 10.5 but I want to bring it up to something more modern like El Capitan or Sierra.
I've tried to boot from USB to install Sierra but it just shows the no boot symbol as soon as I select it as a boot device. I've also got a 2012 mac with a firewire cable trying to install via that mac, but it throws an error when it is 6 seconds from completing the first state.
Also I would like to use a SSD but I can't get it to show up at all. It's only detecting the HDDs even when using Target Disk Mode.
Is anyone able to point me in the right direction to get this xserve running?
Thanks,
