I just bought a nice 30" Cinema Display as the second monitor for my 2007-2009 aluminum 24" iMac, and the Cinema Display came with the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter, but the problem is that my iMac has the plain DVI and not the Dual-Link port. I found a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter but the resolution is awful, I need a DVI to Dual-Link DVI adapter, but there doesn't seem to be one out there. Any workarounds? Am I missing something?

if you can't provide us with an exact model of your iMac, we can only guess. or you can look it up yourself:

here it states, for this particular 2008 model that it will only support 1920 by 1200 on the display output. that's a lot less than the 30"s native res.

you might want to see if you can return that 30 for a 24. sorry.

You are correct... my model is
"Core 2 Duo" 2.4 24-Inch (Al) Specs, Mid-2007 24" MA878LL
Such a nice 30" screen... sigh.
