Right side of wrong
anyone been watching this? or keeping track of it?

#1 Nadal is already out. his first loss at the French, ever. now Federer has a chance to win it for the first time in his career, though i hope that he doesn't

The way Soderling is dealing with Gonzo right now it looks like if Federer gets to the final, he'll have a very hard time getting his elusive 4th Slam…

Nadal going out was a hell of a shock though… Roland Garros just isn't the same without him around. :D

yes, i was thinking the same thing. i haven't been able to watch it, since i've been at work while it's been going on. but i keep track at work when i can (like right now). but i would like to see Soderling beat Federer though

This will tough for Federer. Gonzo, Soderling, and DelPotro are all playing great tennis right now. No easy win here.

I still think he will do it this year:D

Moi aussi :D

On the one hand, it'd be great to see Fed get the 4th Slam, but I have "gone off" him the past years. The media seems very blind to his arrogance which has grown proportionaly as his career spiralled out of control.
Poor old Sue Barking always fawning over gentleman Fed… awwww.
;)

Yup.
It'll be curious to see if Del Potro gives Federer a good run for the money.

 Just heard Nadal is out of Queens next week as well.
His knees playing up again… :(

i would like to see Del Potro at least take a set from Federer. we'll see.

uh oh, not Nadal's knees again. he needs to be healthy for the end of the month!

well it's not over with yet. Gonz just got the 3rd set

And the 4th as well…
Certainly turning into a much better match than it looked after the 1st two sets.

Edit:

Soderling does prevail…
6-3 7-5 5-7 4-6 6-4

Finges crossed for Del Potro. But I am not holding out much hope for this match.

yeah Soderling held on. now let's see what Del Potro can do

Del Potro might did get that set for you.

I like Federer's chances now that the superman of clay Nadal is out. :)

Straight sets victory for Fed today for his career slam and first French title. also tied Sampras. he is pretty incredible. I truly believe that he could have beat Nadal today. Esp under the conditions. but before anyone jumps all over me i think it's because Nadal's game has dropped.

i think they only way he could have beat nadal is if his knee is hurt

I agree.

Personally there is no way that anyone would have beaten a fully fit Nadal

What a pity Soderling didn't "show up"…

Glad for Federer, but personally would have prefered a 5th French Open for Rafa…
And now that Nadal is out of Queens it is looking bad for his Wimbledon title defence.

yes i agree. it seemed like Soderling wanted Federer to win. like he didn't give it his best. i don't know though.

i hope Nadal gets better for Wimbledon, but it's coming up so soon. i wonder if he'll play at all

Tennis, like most sports, is all about matchups. Federer is a bad matchup for Soderling. Last week, Soderling was a bad matchup for Nadal. James Blake, who is looking awful of late, has a winning record against Nadal. Federer made Soderling look like he didn't show up for the match.

I liked the way Federer has come back from a year of Nadal set backs. I was rooting for him.
