2009 iMac as monitor for 2012 iMac

Hello,

I have a late 2009 iMac that I want to use as a second display for a 2012 iMac.
Will a mini DP male to mini DP male cable do the job?

Any help will be much appreciated.

It depends on the iMac in question. Using Target Display Mode is what you are talking about, and here is the Apple support article all about it.

According to Apple, for the 2009 iMac model, only the 27" 2009 iMac can be used as a secondary display via Mini Display Port, the 21.5" will not work.

Ya - its a 27" that I have. I'd say I should be good to go with the male to male mini dp cable.
