Is connecting an old iMac via a RAID device thunderbolt port possible in terms of using it second monitor in target display mode? I'm thinking that this will be a no go option, but i just wanted to check anyway. Ive got an audio interface which is going to need a thunderbolt port, as well as a thunderbolt 2 RAID device (yet to be bought). So i'm going to be short of a port unless i can do this when i soon get my new machine.

Has anyone used their old iMac as a second monitor to their 5k iMac? I'm wondering if difference in display quality might be too apparent, and In which case maybe using a 4k display might be a better option. As i have yet to se a retina screen i'm unsure about this.

Any help is much appreciated.
