My mothers 2009 27 inch iMac is having some issues.

Sometimes the hard drive fan goes really fast and then goes back to normal.

And behind the glass screen there are specs of dust and smudges.

I have tried to fix the fan rpm problem by doing a clean install of snow leopard but that didn't fix the issue.

I have also tried a SMC reset but that didn't fix it either.

And I repaired permissions and that also didn't fix the fan.

The fan goes fast whenever it feels like it.

There is also no dust buildup around the vents.

The nearest apple store is 2 hours away.

What would the Apple store do? Fix and clean her iMac or would they replace it?

I still have apple care for it but it expires January 15th 2012.

Here is a screen shot of iStatpro on her iMac.

Isn't 5000+ rpm kind of crazy for a hard drive fan?
