You may want to format it before putting it in the system. I recall having this issue when I put an SSD into my late 2009 27" iMac (OCZ Vertex SSD). I know it's a pain, but if it's not seen by Disk Utility, you'll need to pull the drive out, put it in an enclosure, and format it. Then you should be able to put it back in the iMac and reformat it HFS etc and be on your way.

i opened the imac putted the ssd in an external enclosure, connected to my mbp and the ssd was immediately recognized, formated guid/hfs+ .. and mounted it back ...

NO success, no ssd "visible" at all !

zap pram and all other was done.

If you put your old drive you took out of your iMac back in does it work? Maybe a connector got damaged or something...

today all went well ..

the apple-tech took the imac apart to reach the sata & power-connectors at the motherboard, just reseated them and all was done.

thank you all for help !
