So just starting about 10 minutes ago, there have been pixels flashing around all over my iMac screen. Groups of 1-10 pixels will randomly turn colors creating a sparkling effect. In photoshop it was extremely bad. Also quite bad on youtube pages (not just the video part)

I restarted my computer and it's back to normal. However I'm still a bit unsettled by it. Is my screen in its final days, or was that just a strange one time occurrence?

I was planning to upgrade iMacs at some point, but wanted to wait til this year's refresh is announced. And if it's just a cheap version as rumored then I'd rather wait til next year.

Sounds more like a graphics card issue to me. At one point Apple posted a Knowledge Base Article on a firmware update to solve this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3181
