The Great White North Eh
So my ol' trusty 4,1 (2.26 octo) got improperly shut down by my beloved middle daughter. Turns out after she just turned it off - I got black screens only, computer made the bootup whirrs but no boot. Eventually pulled out the hd5870 and put int he stock gt120 - yay boot to recovery and hard drive appears screwed well I can work on that one from my win 10 install on the other drive (disk utility fails on first aid). So as i sit here waiting forever for my windows 10 updates to load up so I can actually run the gt120 properly in windows - what video card would work best to replace the old 5870? Preferably I want to have something I can pull out and use elsewhere (building a new windows workstation later this year so why not have something i can put int here right). I was thinking a vega - I think the 64 takes a bit too much juice though (I've heard external psu required) - would a vega 56 work stock? Just trying to squeeze a bit more life out of it.

Also if anyone has a preferential drive fixing program for windows to recommend I'm all ears.

Thanks!

For normal work / usage the HIS or Gigabyte HD 7950 3Gb work very well and there are EFI booting drivers available over at Netkas or PM me.
