I was wondering if engadget has compared the display of the new mb to that of its older shiny sister (13" mbp)?

Has anyone on the boards compared the two, and can they provide a review and pictures?

IMO, apple has had a tradition of skimping a bit on it's consumer laptop displays, and I was wondering if that is still the case.

Thanks.

Read this from Gizmodo. To quote another poster's words in another thread where this topic is discussed ...

Until real data comes in, Gizmodo review says they're close but not the exact same. An upgrade from previous MB for sure.

Gizmodo: They also have a really similar LED backlit display, which eliminates the problem of narrowed viewing angles that we docked the first generation unibody MacBooks for, and both now have the same contrast ratio. The only difference is that the Pro has a 60% greater color gamut.

Same contrast and viewing angles, but lesser color gamut. I'm wondering how that would effect everyday use. Side by side comparison photos would have been nice.

It's my hunch then that most users would not tell a noticeable difference between the two displays for consumer applications. Would you agree?

I agree. I looked at mine and went to the Apple store to check out the newer ones and can't tell the difference. Would probably have to put them side by side for a better result.
